The post that would wrap up 2009 into 2010..

is finally here :) taken me nearly two weeks of procrastinating. Mmm.

I hope 2010 is going well so far for everyone. Its been treating me ok, not great, but could be worse.

Where to start? Because it's my blog, and that I never had any particular type of subject that the posts were about, i'm going to mainly going list crap that happened to me. Unless I figure out something better.

2009 in a nutshell:
  • Met and made some brilliant friends,
  • First wedding attended,
  • Paris - a holiday without family,
  • Saw a LOT of films at the cinema - I made a list of films I had seen a few posts back, and not knowing which was the last, I would like to add these three: Nine, Where the Wild Things Are and New Moon.
  • My first real pair of heels,
  • Interview for a workplacement and got it :D (I start next monday!)
  • Really regret taking out an overdraft,
  • Get my lovely MacBook!
  • Said goodbye to my teenage years,
  • Have some and the worst experiences in my life.
There is only so much you can say, to talk about. Its all in the past and i'm going to try and live from the mistakes and at other times, know when to fight back and say something.

It was a pretty bad year overall i think, not including the external things like war, and going through tough times with the recession. But I had plenty of friends, or many people I knew, go through deaths of loved ones. But there were good times, like the time I didn't want to go a gig but was persuaded to go by a friend, and really enjoyed the night or finally realizing what I was aiming for and my strengths - career wise.

For 2010, i'll hopefully be going to New York! I've been planning for a while and am just trying to get friends to go along with me now! I had plans to visit Roma this year (finally!), but, I decided not to as I really need the money as i'll be moving out for my 3rd year :D I can, in theory afford Italy too, but I'd rather save the money for my trip to NY and for rent. Roma can always be next year.

I do this every year, but to be honest, I never have any concrete goals to aim for, but now I do (NYC), but I'll hopefully lose some weight and then just be this skinny crazy chick with the weird ideas. Yeah. Something like that.

My other goals for the year are to be much more positive and less passive, as well as make a much better effort at uni and try and get some work placements during the summer. This is after my postponed jury service. Gaaaaah.

I'll have a subject based post for next time. I'm really backtracking.

Pop Life at the Tate Modern

Long time no blog.

Once again, i'm back with excuses. This time, uni. Again. But i'm finished for the term so it's great. I'm slowly updating all the stuff i've meant to have had updated many moons ago.

Plus it's snowing where I am. Woop. Hasn't snowed near a Christmas for a looooooooooong time.
This was taken just 10-30mins ago, depending on when I get this post published. Not the best photo, this was taken from my dad's room, by semi hanging my Mac out of the window. Risky. Yes, a camera could and would have been a better choice, but the Mac has it's own mini camera. Less hassle of having to upload :)

And so. The title 'Pop Life'. Oh so great! I finally got to go last weekend. So brilliiiiiiiiiant! My favourite bit was the Murakami bit. The video of Kirsten Dunst doing 'Turning Japanese' by The Vapours was the best bit in my personal opinion. Especially the ending scene that starred Murakami himself!

(Images from here, here and here)

The weekend I went to, was coincidentally this. In a nutshell, it was great, I spent an extra £30 and got to fangirl to Zara Wood! Off of her stall thingy, I bought some postcards, two badges and a tee.

But this 'flea market', besides the Zara Wood stall, to me, it seemed like recent grads trying to sell some of their hard worked work. Thats the only way I can describe it without trying to sound patronizing.

This creased tshirt with the wonderful fox illustration was by two guys - well, the stall was just two guys, under the name of 'We make t-shirts'. (I couldn't find a link to their site/blog, but they were just recent grads from illustration at Nottingham Trent... if anyone knows a link, let me know and i'll put one up.) The picture kinda looks like I could be wearing it. But come on, it's fairly impossible. Unless i'm flat as heeeeck. I'm just holding up the tshirt, hence the flatness. They also sold canvas bags and jumpers with very cool other various designs, but from my wondering around and coming back a few times to the stall, I felt that most of us 'buyers' were most drawn to the fox designs.

It's nice to support my fellow artists :)

Hope all is well. I know i've neglected the blog and not really been commenting on anyone's. But I promise that I do read, even if I dont comment.

I'm going to try and do another post at least, before the year is out, just a conclusion of 2009. Plus i was tagged agggggggges ago by the lovely Girl With The Golden Touch, and i've yet to even reply to her tag let alone do the actual post! But i will! I'm just looking for the right time!

Lots of things have happened since I last posted. I got my work placement for uni in January (another day, another post)! I've seen New Moon and Where the Wild Things Are. Something involving me being picked for Jury Service, aaaaaah! And other petty little things. But they'll be in the next posts or three.

If, if I don't post before Christmas, I hope everyone has a good one and be safe. 2009 has been a crazy year, it's made me fairly paranoid for reasons that i'm allowed to have :)

I'll post soon indeedy.

Oh, and now it's friday (for me at least, good ol' UK), the countdown to Christmas begins!!!!!!! Just a week away!

Location, location, location.

I want to do a lot of things year, too many to mention here, some too personal to mention.

But this year, things that are pretty certain..

  • I'm going Paris,
  • Rome

and

  • Manchester.

Ok, Manchester, not that interesting because it's still in the UK, but i've never been so that gives it some excitement and it's for my cousin's wedding.

Paris, not official, it was just a thought i had on wednesday night, about going to Paris, alone, just spending a day though, taking photos with my various cameras (digital, Fish Eye and Polaroid - nothing fancy, i do want to buy a Diana), but i thought it would get pretty lonely, so it's best to go with a friend. She's interested, and although she's yet to reply to my facebook wall post thing, i plan to go late june, early july. Just to get uni out of the way, totally. I also want those 'I *heart* tees', i would love me one of those 'I *heart* NY' ones, like a tourist, but i'll have to go there myself. I went to France briefly last year, just a small place in Lille, and because it was a fairly small quiet town, no tourist shops selling such souveniers. In the lead up to this trip, i'll be watching Paris, Je t'aime over and over again, i'm so excited already!

Rome, again, not official, but i was meant to go last year, it was a idea i had for a while, and is the place i want to go to before i die. Last year was a we'll-see-when-it-gets-to-summer kinda idea, now it's a we're-going,-sort-out-the-flights/hotel. This will be around early summer, although i've read how the Romans (the residents of Rome, duh), leave for a long holiday in august, i hope that they haven't left by the time i arrive. (Would it be too fangirly if i went to stalk out the area that will be used in the New Moon film?) I'm not looking forward to the crazy heat though, here's hoping that there is air conditioning.

After all this, i'll be awaiting my 20th, it sucks it falls on the weekend/aftermath of the Reading/Leeds Festival, as some friends will be away. No idea what i have planned yet, maybe another trip away somewhere, i do want to go Liverpool at one point... or perhaps a day out in Brighton? There's plenty of time to think about that....

Oh, and i love me some french/italian accents, preferrably the french :)

Twilight

This post was soon going to be written anyway.

For those crazies who havent heard of 'Twilight' as the book/film, then.... click here, books written by Stephenie Meyer.

But for those who have.
Ahem.
OMGITSSODAMNGOODIMOBSESSED

Basically, girl moves to new town and is 'drawn' to this particular family of brothers and sisters who go to her school and then falls in love with one of the dudes. And the family are vampires. Woo. Vampires.

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOVE the book. Twilight is a series of 4 books in total: Twilight, Eclipse, New Moon and Breaking Dawn.

But i hear there will be a book called 'Midnight Sun' which is told in the view of main vampire Edward. Words cannot describe how much i LOVED the book.

Im not going to try and give away too much, but im going to gush. Im currently a chapter or two into the third book. I started reading Twilight (the first book) last sunday... and now on the third. I finished the second in like two days. And the second book is im guessing AT LEAST 450pages. Thats how much im into this series-majig.

The first book has been made into a film of the same name and is being released in November somewhere. I HAVE to go to the premier. If i can. I dunno, im getting geekly depressed thats its all nearly ending and going to the premier may send me off the edge because im so full of excitement.

Here are some pictures while i try to think of some coherent sentances to type.

All my images were taken from here.

The main film poster:
The 'Cullens' and 'Bella'.

And a not-the-most-flattering-picture of the two main leads.Im kinda a twat and i dont really know or can be bothered to find out/know all the actors and actresses names, well, only of 'Edward' - Robert Pattinson - omg, my crush for him is starting all over again, some may know him mainly as 'Cedric' in the fifth Harry Potter film, or for my 'old school' bloggers, some may know or have even seen the images, that Robert used to be a model, at one point i think Bliss (UK) magazine... yes.. like a WEIRDO, I, for some reason kept his poster. Hahaaha, its sooo sad. Again, this was many years ago, PLEASE say someone remembers this too.... it was him along with some other guys and you was meant to vote which one was the cutest... as you can guess i thought Robert was, but i DIDNT vote. I swear. Anyway, getting back to subject, i also know the actress playing 'Esme', Elizabeth Reaser? She was 'Jane Doe/Ava' in Greys Anatomy.

Here's a imdb link for the film.

So in this new obsession, i think my last was a quickly faded Michael Phelps based one, though he is still very cute in a scarily tall dorky way, ive badly researched what potential mags are doing the promo for this film, and all i got is V Man. I dont care its a dude mag, this obsession has no bounds when it comes to magazines. The pictures in V Man are pretty cute though, the ones with the fangs.

If you are a fan of the said series and want to talk about them. Because i cant get enough and i only know ONE other person that knows about the books, but she's still on the first book and i shant see her until like wednesday - well, my email is available, feel free to obsess with me :)

(Later edit: silly me, here's the link to the film website and, if you've seen the trailor, is it me, or does Robert Pattinson look SOO good in Ray Bans?)
